Ideally I would start by racing my athletes once every two weeks. But, such a program has to be flexible because some runners improve better with weekly races or even bi-weekly races. A coach has to adjust to what is best for the runner.

What a pity people don’t take as much trouble with their own breeding as intelligent racehorse owners do. But then I suppose it is bordering on fascism to think like that.
Walking also enables us to watch a hole unfold in front of us. To walk a course is analogous to driving a long distance rather than flying. While driving, we see the country instead of racing over it. There’s a human scale that flying cannot offer.

Typically, when you have a depressed individual, they feel hopeless. They feel miserable. Their mind is racing, their heart is pounding. They feel anxious. They feel exhausted yet they can’t sleep.
Throughout my whole racing career, I was always asked about being a woman in a man’s world. Interestingly when you are in that world, there’s no reason for it to be a man’s world, there are successful women and I didn’t find there to be any barriers to stop me from being successful.
Dancing is just like racing. You don’t learn choreography. They just give you steps to do, and you do them over and over and over. It’s very much like what I do in racing.

It’s just racing. Sometimes you have difficult moments, and then you try to work hard, and you keep working hard, and you overcome the situation. It’s as simple as that.

My progression into F1 came to represent so much more than a racing driver simply trying to reach the pinnacle of the sport. It was also the hope that finally there may again be a female on the starting grid.

Capsizes kind of go hand in hand with 49er racing. I’ve had four to five capsizes in races and still won the event. It’s just the nature of this type of sailing.
I think I will not follow all the races, even in 2020 I am already considering eventually skipping some of the racing in the last part of the season starting from Turkey.
It’s funny because when there’s something written about me in Velonews or Cyclingnews, the headline isn’t “the other” Armstrong; its Armstrong wins another race. With Lance in retirement, everyone I know goes to those sites because they think Lance is racing again.

Once we started racing, my dad had his own industrial cleaning business about twenty minutes from the house, so we kept our race cars there.

If you had 25 races or 20 races, something like that, there’d be more of a demand for the race ticket. I think you’d probably see better racing because of it, too, honestly. Because the less chances we have to get wins, the more aggressive we’re going to be.
When you are racing in an able-bodied competition, you’re all equal and you go out there and try your best, and that’s what counts.
We broke something, I think it was traction.
So much of writing is discovery. Sometimes I feel like a rat in a maze, trying to discover the way out. My little heart is beating, and I’m racing down a path thinking, this is the route, it will get me there, as I turn this way and then that.
Racing is dangerous, but I’ve been in a lot worse situations as a pipe fitter.

I’m basically a marketing director, a CEO and a racing driver all in one, because I have to understand why brands would want to partner with me and sponsor me and give me the support I need to race, because if I don’t have the money I don’t race.
I learned to approach racing like a game of billiards. If you bash the ball too hard, you get nowhere. As you handle the cue properly, you drive with more finesse.
Think of lab rats racing through a maze, when you watch the sub-intelligent, dual-panel ‘dialogue’ conducted on the teli. Each rat runs with a designated, neatly bifurcated (Republican or Democratic) political orthodoxy. Each is a ‘maze-bright’ rat, and not the possessor and giver of any truth.
Fish slowly and thoroughly. Haste never paid dividends. Never wory about the fellow ahead of you. If you start racing to get ahaead of him, he’ll probably try to beat you, and from then on it will be nothing but a foot-race instead of a contemplative and inspiring recreation.
When he was young, I told Dale Jr. that hunting and racing are a lot alike. Holding that steering wheel and holding that rifle both mean you better be responsible.
Air racing may not be better than your wedding night, but it’s better than the second night.

For my career, I wouldn’t go racing if I didn’t enjoy it. I still need to have my say, and not just get put with a team and get told to deal with it.
